Unraveling What Enso Wabi Means and the Reason Why I Chose It

Updated: Jun 25

The name Enso Wabi is deeply rooted in Japanese aesthetics and philosophy, reflecting the soul of what I create and why I create it.

Enso, represented as a circle, holds two powerful meanings. A closed circle symbolizes harmony, strength, completeness, and the beauty of unity. An open circle—with a clear beginning and end—represents movement, transformation, and the evolving nature of life. Both forms reflect the art of being present at every moment, even as we grow and change.

Wabi is about finding beauty in simplicity, weathered surfaces, and quiet authenticity. It invites us to detach from the illusion of perfection or material excess so we can connect more deeply with what is real, natural, and enduring. Together, wabi-sabi is a design ideal that honors what is worn, imperfect, and true.

At its heart, Enso Wabi is about acceptance and trust—the kind you find in nature, the ocean, or within yourself when you stop resisting the tide. It’s the same spirit captured in the sailor’s call to Hold Fast—a symbol of resilience, loyalty, and inner strength. In surfing, it’s the surrender to the wave, the balance between control and release. Each handmade piece in this collection is inspired by that dance: between holding on and letting go.

While Enso Wabi is inspired by a philosophy, it is not religious in nature. Zen philosophy, is a way of being, not a belief system. Its values of presence, simplicity, and inner peace are universal. It invites us to appreciate the beauty in imperfection, live with intention, and find peace in the present moment—truths that transcend all spiritual paths. It’s a universal way of seeing and feeling—a quiet reverence for life as it is. My creations are infused with that intention: soulful, elemental, and made to remind you of your own strength, stillness, and connection to something greater.

True North is the inner truth that keeps us steady — a spiritual alignment that helps us navigate life with purpose, integrity, and heart.

Wisdom begins with acceptance. Not the kind that surrenders in defeat, but the kind that looks life in the eye and says: "I see you. I’m still standing." Every challenge brings a choice—to resist what is and stay stuck, or to accept it and grow. Acceptance is the moment we stop fighting the current. It’s where resilience takes root. And through that resilience, wisdom is born—not as something read as an intellectual idea, but as something experienced and earned.

The pieces I create are shaped by this truth. They are reminders of strength, of presence, and of the quiet power that comes from choosing growth—even when it’s painful.
